Who We Are

The Hope Christian Health Center is an independent hospital, spiritually accountable to local churches in Grand-Bassam and Bingerville, Ivory Coast. We are governed by a Board of Directors and partner with mission boards and academic institutions.
HCHC has been approved as a 501(c)3 in the state of South Carolina, USA, and enjoys temporary non-profit health organization status in Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Africa.

The staff were instrumental in saving the lives of many people, and local church members shared God’s word with patients and their families, but the clinic’s needs quickly outgrew the facility’s capacity and the capabilities of the care providers. Dr. Kadio and Pastor Mach envisioned building a larger, updated facility that could serve exponentially more people and expand the reach of the kingdom of God across West Africa.

Hope Christian Health Center’s mission is to exemplify Christ and bring His compassionate, healing word to the people of Côte d’Ivoire and West Africa.

The Project

Located on a 12.5-acre campus in the historic seaside city of Grand-Bassam, Côte d’Ivoire—just 50 miles from Abidjan International Airport—the Hope Christian Health Center is bringing Christ’s message of love, compassion, and healing to the people of West Africa.

The center is becoming a state-of-the-art mission health facility that uniquely combines medical care, health education, public health interventions, and the training of a Christian healthcare workforce in order to serve the health care and spiritual needs of vulnerable communities in the Ivory Coast and throughout West Africa. The HCHC will see 20,000 patients every year, and will help found at least one church in the region every year, over a period of 10 years.

Our objective is to establish a women and children’s clinic, with a training center for certified nursing assistants, nurses and community health workers. The purpose of the center is to integrate healthcare and public health to address the most prevalent diseases afflicting local populations, and to develop a study-abroad venue for Christian students to study as well as conduct and publish public/population health research. In addition, the HCHC team will preach Christ’s gospel to all patients and families, and help connect new believers into local Christian assemblies.

Do Justice. Love Mercy. Walk Humbly with God.

Our vision for the Hope Christian Health Center grew from humble roots. In 2004, current HCHC board members, Dr. Bernard Kadio and Pastor Bob Mach, opened the first Christian health clinic in Bingerville, Ivory Coast.

There, a single doctor and just a few staff members saw as many as 75 patients per day in a facility designed for twenty.
